Welcome!
I’m Rev. Anne Dunlap, pastor, organizer, teacher, ritualist, and herbalist. I am an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ (UCC) and am happily pastoring a delightful local UCC congregation here in Western New York. As a faith-rooted organizer for racial and economic justice for nearly 40 years, I have been named “the fierce good reverend of the revolution” by friends in the freedom movement (a title I hold with humility) — thus the “FierceRev” part of FierceRev Remedies! I’m a co-founder of the Liberating Lineages Collective, focused on building a world rooted in safety, care, and abundance where all can flourish, and also a Consultant Partner with Jewish Bridge Project.
I believe in the power of solidarity, community, and fierce love in the work of disrupting and dismantling whiteness and racial capitalism and living each day more fully into the beloved community. My own social location in that work is as a white lesbian/queer cis woman, a highly-educated US citizen living on colonized Haudenosaunee land currently called Buffalo, NY. I endeavor to do my part to build a world where everyone is safe, and cherished, and has all they need to thrive.
I started FierceRev Remedies in 2016 when I graduated as a community herbalist. I’ve seen and experienced how the daily grind of systemic oppression takes its toll on body and spirit, and how the struggle for collective liberation can both invigorate us and break our hearts. This space is a natural outgrowth of my herbal studies and the spiritual and emotional care I provide folks in justice-seeking movements.
Plants, I have found, want to help us. They want to give us courage. They want to heal us. They want to love us. They want to help us keep going. They want to help us find deep rest. They want to help us unleash our voices. They want to protect us. They want to help us be free. They want to help us midwife that world that never has been yet, to paraphrase my beloved mentor and ancestor, Dr. Vincent Harding.
FierceRev Remedies are herbal remedies, practices, and offerings to tend the warrior’s heart, body, and spirit. If you’re an activist/organizer or trying to make the world better in any way, if you live at the intersections of oppressions and need support, if the world breaks your heart and you’re weary, drop me a note. If you live in the Buffalo, NY area, we’ll find a time to meet face to face, and Zoom is also an option for everyone. Soy bilingüe (Español/Ingles), y podemos comunicarnos en Español.
I’m also available for preaching, presentations, workshops, rituals, and hands-on herbal care workshops. Check out some options here.
In this space, I’ll also share my thoughts about herbs, remedy-making, and movement work.
Again, welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
