Welcome!
I’m Rev. Anne Dunlap, pastor, organizer, teacher, ritualist, and herbal warrior. I am an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ (UCC) — as Community Minister for for Racial Justice and Solidarity, AKA “the fierce good reverend of the revolution” as I have been named by friends in the freedom movement (a title I hold with humility). I also coordinate faith organizing for Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ); check out our podcast, “The Word Is Resistance.”
I believe in the power of solidarity, community, and fierce love in the work of disrupting and dismantling the white supremacist capitalist heteropatriarchy and living each day more fully into the beloved community. My own social location in that work is as a white lesbian/queer cis woman, a highly-educated US citizen living on colonized land currently called Buffalo, NY. I endeavor to do my part to build a world where everyone is safe, and cherished, and has all they need to thrive.
I started FierceRev Remedies in 2016 when I graduated as a community herbalist, as a natural outgrowth of my herbal studies and the spiritual and emotional care I provide folks in justice-seeking movements.
I’ve been an activist over 35 years, a pastor for 13, and an herbalist for over 10. I’ve seen and experienced how the daily grind of systemic oppression takes its toll on body and spirit, and how the struggle for collective liberation can both invigorate us and break our hearts.
Herbs, I have found, want to help us. They want to give us courage. They want to heal us. They want to love us. They want to help us keep going. They want to help us find deep rest. They want to help us unleash our voices. They want to protect us. They want to help us be free. They want to help us midwife that world that never has been yet, to paraphrase my beloved mentor and ancestor, Dr. Vincent Harding.
FierceRev Remedies are herbal remedies and practices to tend the warrior’s heart, body, and spirit. If you’re an activist/organizer in any way (and I define that broadly!), if you live at the intersections of oppressions and need support, if the world breaks your heart and you’re weary, drop me a note. If you live in the Buffalo, NY area, we’ll find a time to meet face to face, and zoom is also an option for everyone. Soy bilingüe (Español/Ingles), y podemos comunicarnos en Español.
I’m also available for preaching, presentations, workshops, and hands-on herbal care workshops. Check out some options here.
In this space, I’ll also share my thoughts about herbs, remedy-making, and movement work.
Again, welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
